NEGLECT

6 NEGLECT

The plant was drooping
almost dead,
imprisoned in its pot.
In that dark corner
of the room
I pitied it,
and moved it nearer
to the light,
and gave it water
just a cup.
And the next day
a flower appeared
as if in thanks.
It wasn't much
a cup of water
and a little sun.
Like people
that small wilting plant
had simply needed someone's care.
