9 LANDLADY
Slumped in her favourite
nightly seat,she watched
the telly set. And only
in commercial breaks
I dared to speak,
and tell her of my
heartbreak ... how
I'd lost your love.
Consolingly she said,
"It's all within
your lifetime dear."
And so I find it
rather queer
that next week,
when I lost my job
and couldn't pay the rent,
she quite forgot
the telly set,
and right through
Coronation Street,
she shouted.
Said, I'd have to go!
It seems loss wasn't in
her lifetime ... only mine.
